History textbooks

Have just read an article how German educationists planning to write or better use word joint whole Europe histories or integrate each countries attitude and history texts to others. Here read more. In fact i think idea is awesome. And even in my earlier's teenager years, when had complexes more than pimps on my face ( face the true my skin was pretty good looking compare to others, but instead of that i have some blotches now, when almost that age should end) when learning history ( i did that not so often as u thought) wandered if everything is true, i needed more details, more attitude. for example i wandered why all merits went just to Columbus for discovering new lands, how about his crew, investigators, peoples who worked with maps? and so on. and here we go, i grown up a little and got know that Columbus didn't discovered America, Vikings did that, and "little bit" earlier. ( I love what University can give). And it would be big step ahead to make the opportunity for children realise there are more than one or two (bad- good) attitudes of one and the same point, that there are no one absolutely true and get wider outlook. History is on of certain science for cultural sophisticated and modern personality. remember? we are learning from past mistakes. and such textbooks if they become popular in whole Europe will be one more cooperation to develop and grown up intellectual generation. Also its the way to show that Europe are indiscreet community. Not only separate country's but tolerant and smooth society, with the one past. Different attitudes to same events published in tolerant, discreet way are good thing. For example my dream history textbook would look like that: main text wrote by Lithuanian historians (i mention just Lithuanian textbook) and than near each theme few not so big text of polish, russian, or whatever related there historians or politician and one or more independent scientists attitude, of course many links to filtered information web pages. Maybe there are danger of confronts or possibility that texts will deny each other, that's why privilege, in my opinion, have that country in which this book will be realised. Besides wide outlook and liberty in viewpoint we should give for children's and others doze of patriotism, i think :) And congratulations for Germany and France for the first step and being pioneer in this case, which i believe will become very popular in near future. Of course first of all they would need to care about what information and how it will be published, not just plain text. Coz we have problems there in school books, at least in Lithuania.
